PostSubject: Nebo's Autobiography   Mon 25 Jun 2007 - 0:24

Salut!

I grew up in Serbia (ex Yugoslavia). My dad's first car was 1967 2CV, and he has been driving only Citroens ever since - 1970 Ami 8 , 1976 Ami 8 Break, 1976 GS Pallas, and he still drives 1980 GS Super 1.3. While at University in late 80's I drove a 1977 Dyane 6.

After immigrating to Canada 1993, I did not own a Citroen for many years. In 2004 I decided to go back to my roots and my true passion - classic Citroens. One model is especially dear to my heart - since I first saw a GS as a 6 years old boy in 1971 I was totally fascinated with that futuristic, elegant and dynamic shape. I called it ZMAJ, which means a kite and a dragon in Serbian. So, my first Citroen in North America was a 1973 GS 1220 Club. I imported it from Europe in February of 2005 with only 18,000km and in perfecect overall condition.

The GS in a container in front of my house:

Hi Adrien,

Before having the car shipped to Canada, a garage in Europe changed the following parts for me at 18,000km:

1. Timing belts
2. Spark plugs
3. Ignition points

Over the last two years I drove 10,000km and I changed the following two parts:
1. Muffler (exhaust silencer)
2. Homocinetic gaiter (rubber dust boot)

The car is running really well!

PostSubject: Nebo's DSpecial and 2CV   Mon 15 Oct 2007 - 22:58

Well, Citroens are addictive. In January 2006 I visited Garage de l'Est in Holland to see 1971 DSpecial from their private collection being offered for sale (www.delest.nl). The Goddess arrived in May 2006 - by boat to Halifax and than by enclosed transport truck to Toronto. My kids and my ex girlfriend love riding in the D.

A couple of weeks after I came back from the Netherlands, I called Garage de l'Est to arrange for a purchase of 1987 2CV Charlestone for my wife's girlfriend. At the time I complained about my inability to find a red 2CV for my wife (ex girlfriend). She always wanted a red 2CV. To my surprise Hans told me that they just got a red 2CV in excellent original condition. The deal was made and two 2CV's arrived to Canada together with the goddess. My wife had no clue about the red duck. She had a very pleasant surprise in May last year.
